Children Therapy Centre
The Dynamic Women for Children Therapy Centre was established to ensure the emotional and psychological well-being of children cared for at the DWFC Private Care Centre. Many of these children have experienced trauma, neglect, and instability, and require structured therapeutic intervention to heal, grow, and thrive.
In addition to serving children within our centre, the Therapy Centre also aims to extend affordable social services to the broader community. This includes counselling, therapy, group work, and assessments for families who may otherwise lack access to professional mental health support.
Our Goal
To provide a safe, therapeutic environment where underprivileged and traumatized children receive professional emotional, psychological, and developmental support ensuring they grow into healed, resilient, and emotionally healthy adults. To establish a Professional, affordable and accessible therapeutic environment for the broader community.
Current Status
To expand the reach and impact of the Therapy Centre, DWFC has the following strategic plans:
- Establishment of a Dedicated Therapy Centre Facility: Develop a multi-disciplinary therapy space by renting out office rooms to professionals such as psychologists, medical doctors, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. In exchange for affordable rent, each professional will commit to offering one day of pro bono services to DWFC children and families.
- Expansion of Social Work Services: Recruit additional social workers with specialized skills (e.g., child protection, trauma counseling, family therapy) to broaden our capacity and offer more targeted interventions to the children and communities in need.
Objectives:
- Emotional Healing and Trauma Recovery: Offer individual and group therapy sessions focused on processing trauma, building emotional resilience, and restoring a sense of safety and self-worth.
- Behavioural and Mental Health Support: Identify and address behavioural, developmental, and mental health challenges through early intervention, therapy, and collaboration with specialized professionals, building a network and multi-disciplinary team to operate as a secure safety net for our children.
- Therapeutic Programs and Activities: Incorporate art therapy, play therapy, counselling, and life skills workshops to support healing in a child-friendly, supportive way.
- Family and Community Integration: Involve caregivers, guardians, and support networks in the therapeutic process where possible, to reinforce healing and ensure continuity of care beyond the centre.
- Capacity Building and Sustainability: Train staff and caregivers in trauma-informed care and emotional support strategies, ensuring the Therapy Centre maintains a consistent and high-impact therapeutic presence.
